One Book One School

Dessert First by Haillie DurandMarch 19-23 every child and staff member at Jason Lee Elementary will be given their very own (to keep) copy of “Dessert First,” by Hallie Durand. There will be a published schedule to read a set amount of chapters each day. In order to make the book accessible to all, there will be recordings of each chapter on the Jason Lee website.

A few volunteers are needed to come in during breakfast time, March 19-23, to read aloud to the students as they eat their breakfast. Chapters are short and only take about 3-5 minutes to read. If you want to read the assigned chapters for the day or partner/group up and share the readings that works. Please contact Kristi Herling (509-539-4270) or email Kristi.herling@rsd.edu if you are interested in reading at breakfast time.

This will be a great week to all read together!!

PTA Power Up Membership Challenge

pta-power-up-entryJason Lee PTA has entered the WA State PTA Power Up Membership Challenge.

To be in the running for winning money for the Jason Lee PTA we need more people join our PTA before the end of January.

Consider gifting your student’s teacher a PTA membership if they don’t already have one.

PTA discount cards make a great stocking stuffer.

If you’ve been dragging your feet on becoming a member now is the time to join the Jason Lee PTA. If the cost of membership is holding you back, we have a scholarship for that!

Joining PTA Means Joining PTA does not mean
  • You must attend meetings
  • You must volunteer
  • you must be a parent of a student at the school
  • You have to wear a crimson cougar shirt at school events

Don’t get me wrong. If you want to wear a cougar shirt, attend every meeting, and volunteer to help out at school that’s awesome. But that’s not a requirement of being a part of the PTA.

The more members we have the more votes we have at PTA Convention as well voting on the things that matter to us in Washington State. A large membership base increases our ability to advocate for the needs of children. We vote on officers for Washington State PTA, PTA rules and guidelines for Washington State, and we choose which things we want the WSPTA to advocate for with the Washington State Legislature as well through our votes.

What’s holding you back?

Join the Jason Lee PTA today.
